Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Booking/Showcasing Guidelines
FRFF begins booking every year by November. The festival is the 1st weekend in August. Artists submit electronically thru Sonicbids for both feature and/or Emerging Artist Showcase consideration. The deadline for feature submissions is February 1st every year. Showcase deadline is usually May 1st. Check the Sonicbids website for updates or extensions of these deadlines.
FRFF has 4 stages. Dance is booked first, Main Stage next, and the Family Stage last. The Workshop stage features different combinations of performers booked on the other three stages, sharing sets on a variety of topics. Some performers are booked specifically for one stage but most appear on more than one.
All feature submissions are logged into an online database. Automatic e-mail receipts are sent. All submissions are reviewed, and comments recorded. Please do not send unsolicited materials by mail. We are no longer able to accept mail-ins. The festival will contact you if we have a spot or need additional materials.
How Do We Decide Whom To Book?
The Artistic Director makes all programming decisions, but before doing so, our audience surveys are carefully tabulated. A great deal is decided by our audience, including specific artists and types of music to include. Other performers including World, Bluegrass, Cajun, Blues are chosen by the Artistic Director. Sources include radio, other venues & our own meanderings around the folk world. New performers our audience has never heard are sought out every year.
For Feature Consideration...

Emerging Artist Showcase Information

The Falcon Ridge/Grassy Hill Emerging Artist Showcase is open to all performers who have not showcased at the festival in the last two years, at either FRFF 2011 or 2012, and will not be appearing at the 2013 fest in any capacity such as sideperson or special guest.
