The Great Falcon Ridge Hail Storm of 2008 is sure to bring lots of business for outdoor gear stores next summer. Tell us if your equipment survived the apocalypse that was Sunday afternoon.

Our shade tent did bite the dust, and we lost the yoga mats somehow, but everything else seems to have made it through, wet but no permanent damage. We did get home later than we thought, as we spent the rest of Sunday and several hours Monday hogging the dryers in Great Barrington.

My 'mummers' parasol is still in-tact.

Mostly everything survived intact, except for the 10x20 screen house...and i think THAT would have made it if we'd remembered to zip up all the sides!! Aw, heck...it wasn't going to last forever anyway, and as that was the only thing we lost, i think we were pretty lucky!

Everything in Lower Pasture survived just fine. A little wet.

A big thanks to my neighbors in the flats for saving my trailer awning from destruction. It was bouncing around alot. As a newbie with RVs and trailers they really provided good tips and info.

And The Budgie Dome survived?

The Budgie Dome survived just fine. It moved and flexed but nothing came down.

but of course the dome survived. we all know it is protected by the devil.

In our compound we lost 1 tent when a gray carport and it poles from another area came crashing through it and slammed into my car(no damage to car).Had 5 people and all they could do to save our dining tent (carport) while I had all I could do trying to save our trailer awning which was anchored in the ground but the wind was just relentless.Had that gray carport come through 10 ft. to the left it would've wiped all of us out.Thankfully noone was hurt in our area or anywhere else on the farm Sun.

This is a good time to remind anyone with carports to please anchor them down tightly. (Find an old boy scout and tie several Taut-line hitches).

I've helped secure these with heavy anchors (I'm thinking of the screw in types) and tight lines and they have weathered storms better than the Budgiedome. If the wind can't lift it off the ground they will stay put.

Our tent stayed up and dry all weekend, though two of the poles on the side facing the wind actually bent. I called the manufacturer, told them the story, and they're sending replacements at no charge.

Lost the 10x10 canopy (no biggie, we figured this year would be its last anyway) and a nice umbrella...

Bonus - Already had broken camp down and brought it down to the car before Gospel Wake-Up - so all of the camp stuff (tent etc) was safe and sound in the car when the worst of the weather hit.

Ugh - we lost both tents and our screened in gazebo!!!

We, and all our stuff, survived intact. I think that getting up later than I intended (I'm scared of nighttime storms and had been up 'til 3:15 that morning sitting in the car) saved my tent. It seems that most of the tents that blew away had already been emptied. My tent was still full of my stuff, and I think that helped to hold it in place. I know the stakes couldn't have helped but so much, considering how wet the ground already was when I staked the tent.

We lost our 10 x 10 canopy like many others - of course we had carefully let down the side panels, no doubt making it a gigantic sail. It was sort of twisted to the ground when we got up to our 15 acre site, with broken (!) 1" square tube steel legs and accordion tubes , but the whole thing stayed in place because our guy lines held. Yea for my sweetie who knows how to tie those circus tent knots! The dome tent was fine all around, just a little leaking at the floor like it gets in any rain. After we packed up the wet site, we went back down to the main stage hill side to try to find our sunshade tent that we'd left behind, but I think it might be in Plattsburgh. We really hoped it hadn't turned into a missle of destruction to anyone downwind - I suspect it was just a sad pile of poles and nylon long before we returned.
