Maybe if some of us guys wear skirts, it'll keep the 'real' dance people happy.

Folks,
It is good to hear that the non-structured dance bands will continue to be playing the dance tent. I feel that this is a very important part of FRFF. Some of my very favorite moments at FRFFs in the past have been in the dance tent with Gandalf, Blue Sparks and I just loved the Mecca Bodega set there some years ago (and it caused me to reacquaint myself with my hammerred dulcimer which is my favorite instrument of choice to be plaing nowadays).

It is being that close to the performers and being within the energy at that proximity that is special.

Hello fellow festivalers!

Joanna here! I'm coming up from NJ for my first bout' at your festival and I am hella excited!!

I've been trying to make it up there forever. I won tickets!! Off a website (Folk Alley) I frequent out of NYC that lists all sorts of folky stuff. cool site check it out if your ever visiting NYC and want to be in the know.

Gandalf Murphy! 10:30 pm! Saw them at a festival down south jersey. Too much fun! :D

No Gandalf on Thursday??

Postby pjd2520 » Thu Jul 24, 2008 1:50 pm

They have been listed to play all 4 days for months. Now that the schedule is released they are not slotted on Thursday. I drove a long way only being able to stay for Thursday. I am very disappointed to say the least in regards to this schedule change.

Many artists are booked all 4 days incl Gandalf

Postby AnneS » Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:06 pm

But may not be performing on stage every day, informally in the campgrounds, on the midway, as a special guest, doing a CD signing etc. But they are there doing something. We've always had artists that do this, i.e. plan to be at the fest all 4 days, therefore are listed in the flyer, even tho I may not have an on stage spot for them every day. This is a festival, a four day community, not a concert.

pdj2520, I can understand your frustration as I'm a huge GMATSCOD fan also and do understand AnneS explanation. This year's schedule, as in years past, lists performer's days of Festival attendance ......... for performers, visiting, greeting fans, jamming as guests, signing stuff, etc... is a very important part of being a recognized artist.

Gandalf

I understand as well.......didn't see or hear anything about them yesterday. Just seems like they shouldn't be listed if all they are doing is going to be dropping off merchandise. That doesn't seem like much of an "appearance" that would warrant adding them to the schedule for that day.
