Any advice on whether we should come on Wed or wait till Fri? Weather looks pretty bad for tenting! Any better area for dryer pastures(no running streams).Would anyone be able to keep the website posted for these kinds of concerns?

The national weather service usually does a pretty good job with their forecasts without all the need to make it into a circus that sometimes comes up on weather channels/sites. Here's the link:

It's looking pretty ugly right now for Wed/Wed pm and Thurs. Oh well. I'll bring the rain suit, footwear that can get wet, and then try to have a good time under the dance tent. Then again, maybe it won't be as bad as they say.

I'm only about an hour north of Hillsdale and, despite predictions of solid rain the past two days, it's started off overcast and damp, but the clouds and threats of rain have burned off by midday.

I wouldn't put too much trust in the forecast, and decide if you want to go based on whether or not you want to be at the festival. Even a lot of rain probably won't kill you

wednesday night and thursday morning look the worst. waiting til thursday morning may be a mistake. the tendency around here (45 miles north of hillsdale) is for it to thunderstorm starting between 4 and 6. i am hoping that tomorrow the banding takes place early enough in the afternoon to allow us to pitch our tents before the storms arrive.

the weather looks terrible for wednesday and thursday, but the tendency around here (45 mi north of hillsdale) has been for thunderstorms to start in the late afternoon. the forecast looks like the evening and thurs morning will be bad. i hope, i hope, that the banding will start early enough in the afternoon that we can beat the storms. no guaranty when they will blow in, but as i said the tendency the last couple of days has been late afternoon.

I remember FRFF 2003 being a year that we had pouring rain on Wednesday evening, after dark. Fortunately, most people had arrived, but late arrivals who needed to drive their cars on the grass in the pouring rain had to wait until the next morning.

We may hold off on tents and just set up our mattresses under the canopies. We've done it before...it IS camping, after all!

I was looking at the radar and there is this big splotch moving through Michigan that just might drift north of us. Maybe we only get hit with the bottom bit and not so bad.

skies are clear now.
I recommend arriving before noon on wed or thurs. PM forecast has scattered showers. So its hit or miss.

The idea of spending two days in the rain does not appeal...but then i remember it's Falcon Ridge, and it feels a little better. Here's hoping those showers and thunderstorms are less Hit and more Miss!!

Don't forget to look for the Truck Stop in the Lower Flat on the road to the shower! Free coffee and jam every night after the main stage is over!

Anne posted in a different thread that the gates were opened at 7 AM this morning to give people a head-start with camping before the rain starts. Not all areas are open, just read her post in the Camping and Lodging section.

There is a flood watch for Eastern Columbia county until Friday morning, so pack accordingly.

Sigh... we're pushing back to Friday. If we had a poptop or something I'd come hell or high water, but I don't have the camping skills to deal with a couple inches rain.
