I'm just back, my head is filled with memories of many lovely moments, but to me the highlight was standing near the workshop stage after the storm, car packed and ready to leave, when approached by Buddy Connolly (of Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul) who asked if there was a place for Eileen to set up a sessiun. Conferring with Elliot, we brought out a few chairs and set up stage left.
Eileen and band (Buddy, Greg Anderson, Sarah Milosovich (sp?), Leo Traversa & Tommy McDonnell) did a few songs, lasting about an hour, with others, including Radoslav Lorkovic, Dan Navarro, Randall Williams, Eric Lee and Anthony DaCosta joining in.

We heard about this too late to enjoy it - is there any video on YouTube? I would LOVE to see it!!
I believe Steve Kirkman was with Anthony Da Casta; they sang Steve's song "Folk Singer," which may actually be one word.

This year's festival hit some biggies: an on-stage marriage proposal at the workshop tent, a 50th birthday John Gorka will never forget... Only thing that didn't happen (as far as I know) was an impromptu baby delivery by Nerissa!

Only thing that didn't happen (as far as I know) was an impromptu baby delivery by Nerissa!
I heard from a member of her family that when the big blow hit she was resting comfortably at a house in Hillsdale.
Any news of her condition/delivery?

My favorite memory was wandering into the Night Owl Hoot where Tony Kearney(?) was hosting a late night song swap/jam/sing along. Our intention was to stay for a half hour and then head up towards the hill where other musical gatherings were taking place.
Under the tent were several guitar players, Tony (banjo), a hammered (no he wasn't drunk) "dulcimerist" and a variety of other folks who were there to sing along or just take it all in. I was playing my little Ashbory bass. My girlfriend and friend were playing guitar and a strumstick.
What struck me was that these people were all strangers to us. Never met 'em before, didn't know their names and for the most part, I don't even know what they look like (it was dark!) But it didn't matter. When we finally dragged ourselves out of the tent at 4am, I walked away feeling like we had just done something very, very special. I dont care if it sounds clichéd - I really believe that it was a shining example of people communicating and bonding through the universal language of music.
So here's a big thank you to Tony and to everyone else who sang and played with us there in the dark, whoever you are. Hope to see you next year!

Returning from last Saturday's Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble we chose the Great Barrington route. At the intersection of 22/23 we spontaniously decided to turn left to check out the farm.
Parking at the head of the main entrance the scene was pastoral. What we throught was a browing heard of cows in Ten Acres was a group of deer.
The only evidence that FRFF 2008 had occurred were a few worn tracks and a huge pile of easy up skelletons.
