since the FRFF is one of the largest folk fests, i really doubt that vendors who choose to stay away, even if there was decline, to go to small smaller venue thaat weekend.

but once again, i am sure that brian with his divine gifts knows EXACTLY what the vendors he does not know are thinking. and i am certain they all would attend his perfect folk festival. why, i even bet people eat more when TN and EFO are not on the bill.

I would not be a good host if I didn't ask you if you wanted some cheese
and crackers with that whine you posted above?

tisk - tisk - tisk, I guess you never took time to walk the midway this
year and see that there are many suscessful businesses who have
returned year after year. Oh by the way - there is a new guy in town
who not only makes pizza, he makes fresh potato chips, and a couple of
other items that I didn't sample this year.

There are many "successful enterprises" in the midway. Those who
arrived after the rain started on Wednesday waited patiently on the road
because of the mud. Some of the vendors helped each other carry tents
and other items to the vendor's designated area so they could start
setting up for business. If you missed that side to the FRFF - you know
the part where everyone helps others, then you missed to whole spirit of
FRFF. What happens behind the scenes is, most of the time, more
important than what happens up front and in the open.

John (the farmer) was busy helping out many who needed his help
however when he was free, he pulled the vendors into the site, through
the mud, with his tractor. Those vendors persevered in the face of
adversity! I guess you didn't hang around when it was raining to see all
the activity that was going on to help the vendors get in and set up. Oh
well, you missed out on the FRFF community neighbors helping each
other during tough times. That's what we do best......and that is what
brings not only our volunteers back year after year.....but also the
vendors because they know when times are tough......there is help
around the corner.

The person or persons who bought Sunflower Pizza may have a different
route than Vinnie did or maybe - just maybe they aren't doing festivals at
all! Goodness, you can't expect the new owner(s) to do everything the
former owner did!

The bottom line is that Sunflower Pizza is now their business and they
make the decisions just like Falcon Ridge Folk Festival is a business and
the owners of the festival make all the decisions.......and I am sure that
neither of them need your input.....nor do they want your input, into their
business affairs!

So Brian, you need to sit down and take a break for awhile and regroup
because your blood pressure is rising for no reason!

The only thing lacking - business or other wise - is ONLY in your mind, or
in this case not in your mind. Brian, I do have a psychologist on my
staff. She is a volunteer, so she will see you for FREE. Stop by the
med tent next year and I will set an appointment for you!

In the medical tent we do more than stretch bandaids, asprins and aloe.
We take care of everyone, no matter how unstable they are!

Until then, sit back in your easy chair - enjoy the break - Have a good

On a final note Brian, what is your retirement date? Just want to know so
I will stay on top of everything!

As I said, I am a multi-tasker and can handle many things and process
many bits of information at once!

I've just joined this forum, and you nearly singlehandedly ruined it for me. At the same time, I am amused as you are truly a man alone in this board, and I agree with others that you also seem to miss so much of what makes FRFF what it is. A place and COMMUNITY that is unique to other festivals because of its close-knit atmosphere and POSITIVE attitude. (doesn’t my use of caps feel just a tad patronizing?...)
I respect what you claim to be a desire to better FRFF (for all, I hope… though your posts all suggest you are thinking of your own needs and desires first and foremost, which I think is why you are met with the constant dissent you encounter), but I think you need to seriously rethink your approach. You have yet to post anything that is in fact constructive. You have failed to discuss anything positive, only focusing on everything that is wrong and even then failing to consider other points of view that honestly come across as much more thoughtful and compelling when voiced by all those around responding to your posts.
Honestly, you've criticized the artists, you've criticized the marketing, you've attacked the vendors, you've called out the staff for their plea for assistance from the COMMUNITY and the way they have handled a pretty difficult situation. Did you miss the fact that a TORNADO hit? I think most people are simply thankful everyone was safe and alive, and you're questioning the claim concerning the size of the HAILSTONES? And your passive aggressive attack against Arnie and the AMAZING work those volunteers do in the med tent...And how did I forget your family-friendly, child loving, warm and fuzzy suggestions about what people should do with the kids at FRFF…
You're clearly a thoughtful individual. Why don't you take a step back, maybe read a book on how to offer "constructive criticism" and then come back with your proposals on how WE can make FRFF a better experience. It doesn't need drastic changes as it's pretty damned good the way it is. And I think it's special BECAUSE of its size and intimate nature. Careful what you wish for with all your ideas about growth; such ideas could ruin this festival so many of us cherish.
And if you're that sick of EFO and the Nields, then thank the FRFF gods, there are DOZENS of other artists available to you.

Hey Fella...YOU better read ALL of my posts before you commence making such blanket and stupid statements regarding me.

I still maintain that FRFF is DYING......unless thangs change, I give it just a couple more years of existence.
