BEATLES OFFER

(OPEN ON: LORNE AT DESK. THERE IS ONLY ONE CAMERA USED THROUGHOUT)

LORNE:

Hi. I'm Lorne Michaels, the producer of "Saturday Night." Right now, we're being seen by approximately twenty-two million viewers, but please allow me, if I may, to address myself to just four very special people -- John, Paul, George and Ringo -- the Beatles. Lately, there have been a lot of rumors to the effect that the four of you might be getting back together. That would be great. In my book, the Beatles are the best thing that ever happened to music. It goes even deeper than that. You're not just a musical group, you're a part of us. We grew up with you. It's for this reason that I'm inviting you to come on our show. Now, we've heard and read a lot about personality and legal conflicts that might prevent you guys from reuniting. That's something which is none of my business. That's a personal problem. You guys will have to handle that. But it's also been said that no one as yet has come up with enough money to satisfy you. Well, If it's money you want, there's no problem here. The National Broadcasting Company has authorized me to offer you this check to be on our show. (HOLDS UP CHECK) A certified check for $3,000. Here it is, right here. Dave -- can we get a close-up on this? Which camera? Oh, this one. (CAMERA MOVES IN TO SHOW CHECK) Here it is, a check made out to you, the Beatles, for $3,000. All you have to do is sing three Beatle songs.

(SINGS) _She loves you_
_Yeah, yeah, yeah ..._

That's $1,000 right there. You know the words. It'll be easy. Like I said, this is made out to the Beatles -- you divide it up any way you want. If you want to give Ringo less, it's up to you. I'd rather not get involved. I'm sincere about this. If it helps you to reach a decision to reunite, it's well worth the investment. You have agents. You know where _I_ can be reached. Just think about it, okay? (HOLDS UP CHECK AGAIN) Thank you.

The crazy thing about that offer was that Lennon & McCartney were that close to actually taking him up on it.

This was my second trip to Falcon ridge but my first time staying overnight & camping. It was a wonderful experience & the volenteers all went above & beyond. A few months earlier I have had minor heart surgury & was a litle distressed about getting there & being told I couldnt drive up to the camp sites. Volentters offered to help carry my gear up or arrange for a golf cart ride. I ended up opting out & carried my own gear. It took a few trips but well worth it I ended up getting a great site not far from the main stage.
I was at the main stage when the brough haha came blowing through. When the told us to get under cover ASAP i took them literally & even with running i bearly made it to my car, just moments before the hail started. Again thanks to the volenteers & organizers for a decent warning!! It could have been ugly if I hadnt rushed to my car!
Now for a great story of the storms! But about the storm the night before.
This is my first time camping at an event like this & by some miricle I had the forthought to bring a large, colorful canvas of two bright yellow & red Dragons intertwined on a black canvas to hang over the top & side of my tent. I was able to find my tent in the sea of tents from some distance! Alot of people thanked me because they were able to find thiers camp sites by my Dragons.
Well Saturday night long into a good night sleep the first storm rolled in... It was an amazing light show & thunder claps! Normally I sleep though storms like that but one clap of thunder was big enough to wake me... Laying half awake, bleary eyed, laying on my back looking up into the darkness. The next flash of lightnight illuminated the sky as bright as day for a split second, and for the split second, those two dragons were alive & inside my tent!!!!! OMG For just a moment in my groggy half asleep state, reality ceased & there were two dragons in my tent!!! Looking back I am sooo glad i wasnt drunk or stoned. Done even want to think what that would have been like LOL
Even with the storms this was a wonderful event & am looking forward to doing it again.

More wild weather in the area

Postby amp » Sat Dec 13, 2008 1:17 am

Hi:

I wasn't sure where else to post this, and didn't want to start a new subject.

It seems that the Festival area has been hit again, as part of the huge rain/ice storm that went through yesterday/today. My area (southern CT) just got rain, but according to the newspapers the area from Berkshire in Mass. over into Columbia county in NY was hit badly. Guess it's a very bad weather year for them.

i am about 50 miles north of hillsdale, and yes, we did get a big ice storm. but that is not unusual for us. in the albany area i heard on the radio this morning that 200,000 people were without power. many trees were down, and a huge limb from a neighbor's tree came down and clipped our telephone wire, which is now flat on the ground but still attached. but when we have these ice storms the mess gets cleaned up pretty quickly. they are not as unusual as a tornado, although in NY, the hillsdale area is one of the more likely areas to get one for some reason.

Tornado time.

I found this forum recently. I just want to thank the roadies for Guy Mendilow's band for rescuing my family during the storm. While I was holding onto my 8-year old son in the middle of the kids concert tent, keeping a very frightened boy calm, one of the roadies motioned to us to follow him out of the tent. He loaded my son, my wife and I into his van behind the tent, as he continued to load his equipment in. He rescued a second family with us - explaining he scoped out the tent for particularly scared kids. He then came back to let us know they were told the storm was coming back, and they were ordered to evacuate the tent. He finished loading his equipment and the band, and his very full van safely drove us out to the road. He was a savior. I think his name was Dave. We all want to thank him.
