2008 Emerging Artist Showcase

The FALCON RIDGE/GRASSY HILL EMERGING ARTIST SHOWCASE is open to all performers who have NOT showcased or appeared as a feature act at FRFF in the last 2 years and who will not be appearing in any other capacity this year. This includes a sideperson or special guest appearance. One entry per artist is allowed. This applies to all members of groups/bands. ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE ELECTRONIC VIA SONICBIDS. DEADLINE IS MAY 1, 2008.

FRFF 08 dates are July 24, 25, 26 & 27. FRFF is held on the Dodds Farm in Hillsdale, NY near the MA/CT/NY border. A completed showcase application, $15 submission fee, an Email address, brief BIO and a 3 song submission are required to apply. Please follow all instructions on the application.

Selected artists will appear Friday, July 25 on our Mainstage between noon and 5P. The format is 2 songs or 10 minutes. There are 24 slots. Selected artists appear in the program book, will be assisted by our excellent stage crew and will enjoy the very best sound reinforcement in the known universe. Klondike Sound!

The showcase is not a contest and artists will not be judged. However, the audience is surveyed as to which THREE SHOWCASE ARTISTS they wish to see return to the MOST WANTED SONG SWAP at FRFF the following year. Three to six artists are invited to return. Some go on to be featured acts at FRFF. A spring Preview Tour of the MWSS artists arranged by FRFF takes place yearly in early May also.

The SHOWCASE and MW SONG SWAP are an opportunity to be seen and heard in a large amphitheatre setting with hundreds of avid folk fans, presenters, agents, record labels and media in attendance.

Showcase artists are provided with full fest admission plus meals and on-site camping. One full fest guest pass per showcase act is allowed. Showcasers are encouraged to bring mailing lists and merchandise to the Performer Music Sales tent. FRFF takes 10% on all artist merch sales. The entrance fee which covers postage and administration costs is the only fee required.

Showcasers need not remain on site all weekend but can do so if they wish. There is a lodging list available online should they wish to utilize nearby motels.

A committee of 3 music professionals review submissions and make selections. The only criteria are high quality performances of interesting, well-crafted acoustic based material. It need not be original.

Artists submit 3 songs for consideration. Format Is MP3 only, 5 MB max size. Follow the upload directions provided.

REMEMBER ONLINE SUBMIT DEADLINE is May 1, 2008.

The FRFF office collates scores and keeps a submission database with all artist info on file. All applicants receive an automatic Email notification that their submission was received. Please remember to include your E address on the application.

Final decisions are made mid June. Notifications are Emailed to all applicants. Selected artists are also notified by phone. Be sure to indicate a contact person and working phone number on the app if you will be unavailable mid June.

If selected, artists must supply the FRFF office with a detailed stage plot. We will Email a plot form with simple directions along with the acceptance letter.

A final word...if you are not selected this year, we encourage you to try again. The volume of talent is tremendous. Non-selection should in no way be construed as a reflection of talent or ability. Thank you for your interest in the FALCON RIDGE/ GRASSY HILL EMERGING ARTIST SHOWCASE.
